The rapture was supposed to happen yesterday, or so some people predicted. I think everyone knows that by now. The rapture didn’t happen, we are all still here. So what now? what do we do in this “post-rapture world” with questions swirling around by non-Christians trying to figure out if Harold Camping is a good representation of all Christians, or just a whacked out nut job.
Many thoughts have been running through my mind . . . so many people have said so many things, made so many jokes . . . so what now.
What is your next step . . . what if Jesus were to comeback today, or next week. Maybe he won’t come back for another 2,000 years. But at some point in time you will die . . .
I read a blog by one of my favorite Christian bloggers Shawn Smucker about Redemption this morning and it put me into a melancholy mood. It reminded me of a huge chapter in my life. One that seems to write itself without any control from me, and sometimes it takes multi year breaks . . . hanging out and gathering dust on the bookshelf of my life. The chapter is comprised of my time in the amazing continent of Africa. Africa seems to have captured an amazing portion of my heart somehow. The people are amazing, in their love for each other and the clueless people that come to try and help them. The culture is crazy, both in good and bad ways . . . the people so friendly, and at the same time so bound by their pagan beliefs. Its become such a part of my heart that every time I think about it, I long to be their again. . . Maybe at some point in time, I will get the chance to be used of God in the lives of the African people to bring them to Christ. . .
What are your “post-rapture” thoughts?
